Description
T4 bacteriophage viruses. The term "phage" referes to the fact that they "eat" the bacteria. T4 is the most complicated virus. It has a highly developed landing gear that docks with the bacterial surface and triggers the DNA injection through the contractile tail. This image has the phages brilliantly coloured against a black background, emphasising their insectile appearance.
