Artist's Description

Rabies virus. Rabies is an extremely dangerous disease, often transmitted by the bite of an infected animal such as a dog or a bat. The virus particle shown here is a typical bullet shape and is covered by glycoprotein spikes (shown in red). The spikes insert into the lipid membrane or viral envelope (greenish). Below the membrane lies the helical nucleoprotein. This contains the viral RNA.

Russell Kightley

Scientific artwork for large modern interiors such as a designer home, corporate office, biotech company, science museum, school, research laboratory, university, hospital, clinic, dental surgery or doctor's office.
