The particles are irregular and translucent and blurry to emphasize their slippery and uncertain nature. Quantum entanglement is bizarre and counterintuitive, and gave rise to Einstein’s famous phrase “spooky action at a distance.” The graphic device of a mesh helps us visualize how the two particles are caught and constrained in a net. The backgrounds are abstract networks of particles with nodes that look like stars, and connectors that hint at constellations, giving the images an astronomical look.
